Ethiopian Institute Of Agricultural Research Eiar

Ethiopian Institute Of Agricultural Research Eiar is a foreign government entity registered in SAM.gov since August 2009, with registration expiring in June 2022. EIAR conducts agricultural research and development activities focused on improving crop productivity and food security in Ethiopia.

EIAR has received five subawards funded by U.S. federal grants in recent years to conduct research and provide technical expertise related to sorghum, millet, and soybean production in partnership with Kansas State University and the University of Illinois. Specific activities carried out under these subawards include collaborative research on sorghum and millet as part of the Sorghum and Millet Innovation Lab, research to improve soybean production and develop soybean value chains in Africa via the Foundations for Soybean in Africa program, and a mission buy-in to conduct additional sorghum and millet research in Madagascar. The prime awards funding EIAR's subawards were provided by the U.S. Agency for International Development through the Feed the Future innovation lab program. EIAR's subawards enable research partnerships between U.S. universities and Ethiopian agricultural scientists to develop improved varieties, agronomic practices, and value chains for key staple crops in Sub-Saharan Africa.
