About Centro Internacional De La Papa
Centro Internacional De La Papa (CIP) is a research for development organization that focuses on increasing potato, sweetpotato, and Andean roots and tubers productivity in developing countries. Through federal grants, CIP provides agriculture support, food security interventions, technical assistance, and resources to strengthen agricultural sectors and bolster food access in vulnerable regions impacted by drought, locusts, and conflict.
CIP has received over $14 million in prime federal grants from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to support agriculture, food security, and humanitarian initiatives in countries like Ethiopia, Madagascar, and Georgia. As a prime grantee under USAID's Foreign Assistance for Programs Overseas, CIP delivered drought relief in Ethiopia and locust and conflict response in Madagascar. CIP also served as the primary implementer of agriculture and trade projects funded through USAID Caucuses Georgia. Additionally, CIP has partnered as a subawardee on agriculture innovation and crop protection grants from universities like Pennsylvania State and Michigan State. Through these subawards, CIP provided technical expertise on developing disease resistant potatoes and oversaw coordination, testing, commercialization, and distribution efforts in African countries.
