About this program
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is funding the packaging and dissemination of evidence-based pediatric weight management interventions for low-income families under Assistance Listing 93.349, with the most recent grant awards disbursed on April 1, 2019.
This program supports the conversion of existing, evidence-based pediatric weight management interventions into user-friendly packaged materials that healthcare, community, and public health organizations can replicate and pilot in real-world settings serving low-income children and families. Recent awards funded the packaging and dissemination of specific programs: the Stanford Pediatric Weight Control Program (a family-based, group behavioral weight control program), the JOIN for Me Program, and evidence-based pediatric weight management programs for family-based behavioral treatment, as well as translation of such interventions into rural and micropolitan communities.
The program operates exclusively through Cooperative Agreements. All four awards in the portfolio were made by CDC, concentrating $17.3 million in federal dollars obligated. Individual award magnitudes ranged from approximately $3 million to $5.3 million, with project periods of one to five years. Combined total dollars obligated (federal plus non-federal share) reached $17.6 million, indicating modest cost-share contributions from recipients.
However, the program shows no recent grant activity. The last grant awards were made in April 2019, seven and a half years ago. The most recent posted grant opportunity (RFA-DP-19-002) closed on October 24, 2018. The source provides no evidence of grant opportunities currently open or posted recently. Eligibility encompasses cities, counties, Indian tribes, local or tribal educational agencies, accredited universities and colleges, federally-qualified health centers, local health departments, healthcare providers, and community-based organizations. Applicants should verify current solicitation status on Grants.gov, as the program's current funding trajectory and near-term application windows are not apparent from available portfolio data.
