The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) received a $5,000,000 Cooperative Agreement award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service under the Participant Research Innovation Laboratory for Enhancing WIC Services (CFDA 10.540) program. The purpose of this 5-year award, effective May 2024 through March 2029, is to conduct research, evaluation, and develop innovative strategies to enhance service delivery, participant retention, and customer service for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). UNC-CH will leverage its broad research capabilities to support local WIC agency-initiated projects that address the diverse social and cultural needs of WIC participants and eligible populations. Key activities may include developing interactive tools, technical resources, and research methodologies to improve WIC service delivery in both service sites and retail environments.
