About this opportunity

The City of Santa Cruz is requesting bids on the West Cliff Drive Path Realignment project, a pedestrian infrastructure and drainage improvement initiative at two sites, with bids due September 24, 2026.

The scope spans two locations. Site 1 includes demolition and repaving of existing path segments, construction of a wood split rail fence with gate, installation of decomposed granite rest areas with benches and memorials, drainage improvements (swale and new catch basin connection to existing storm drain), installation of a hose bib and box, vegetation restoration with rock swash, and associated grading. Site 2 involves removal of the existing parking area and asphalt pathway portions, repurposing of an existing storm drain catch basin, construction of a new asphalt-paved path, installation of a decomposed granite rest area with park bench and trash receptacle, swale construction, vegetation restoration, and grading. Vegetation restoration requires installation of 5,534 native California coastal plants across five landscape zones (Bluff Top, Bio Swale, Swash, Cap, and site-specific areas), distributed as 1,636 plants at Site 1 and 1,956 at Site 2, with additional plantings for specialized features including 855 plants for the bio swale, 971 for the cap area, and 117 for the swash zone.

The engineer's estimate totals $459,800, broken down as follows: Lump Sum Items ($53,000), Demo and Removal ($101,000), Asphalt Walkway ($53,000), Swale and Storm Drain System ($35,000), Fixtures and Other Appurtenances ($18,000), Decomposed Granite Rest Area ($6,000), Planting and Restoration ($152,000), and 10% Contingency ($41,800).

Detailed technical specifications, site plans, material requirements, construction methodologies, and quality standards are provided in the IFB and specifications document and supporting site plan documentation.
