About this opportunity
The City of Orem, Utah is requesting bids for installation of an exterior cathodic protection system at Well #10, with bids due July 7, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. All bidders must hold a valid Utah State Contractors License applicable to the work type at the time of bid opening — the central eligibility filter.
The scope comprises a deep well anode system, rectifier, and appurtenant equipment to provide cathodic protection to the well house located southwest of the intersection at 400 South and 400 West in Orem. Work is organized into three lump-sum line items: mobilization, cathodic protection system installation, and demobilization. Bids may be submitted electronically via Bonfire or in person at the Community Development Offices, 56 North State Street, Orem, Utah 84057.
Substantial completion is required within 60 days from Notice to Proceed; final completion is due 30 days thereafter. Liquidated damages are assessed at $500 per calendar day for delays beyond 30 days from substantial completion. All work must comply with current building code and City of Orem Construction Standards and Specifications. The contractor is responsible for obtaining building permits and coordinating inspections and submittals.
Bidders must submit a bid bond equal to 5% of the total bid amount and, upon award, provide performance and payment bonds each in the amount of 100% of the contract price with an approved corporate surety. Required insurance includes commercial general liability of $2 million combined single limit per occurrence, business auto liability of $2 million combined single limit per accident, and workers' compensation with employer's liability limits of $1 million per accident. The City of Orem and its officials, officers, employees, and volunteers must be named as additional insureds on all liability policies.
Bidders must submit a construction superintendent resume, financial statement with references, and documentation of three recent projects of similar type and complexity. Payment will be made via ACH transfer within 15 days of invoice receipt, with the City retaining 10% of progress payments until final completion, reducible to 5% after 50% work completion. A one-year warranty covers all materials, equipment, and workmanship from substantial completion.
