About this opportunity

The City of Miami Beach is conducting an Invitation to Bid (ITB 2023-036-LB) to establish a prequalification pool of contractors for VMware licenses and support services, specifically targeting virtual desktop infrastructure to facilitate remote work environments. The procurement seeks authorized VMware partners capable of selling, upgrading, supplying, servicing, and maintaining VMware products within Miami-Dade County. Contractors must submit a complete prequalification application, with the initial review occurring 21 days after the ITB's issuance. Key qualifications include providing a manufacturer authorization form, demonstrating technical capabilities, and submitting references from previous clients. The prequalified status will be valid for five years, and while inclusion in the pool does not guarantee work, selected vendors will be eligible to submit statements of work and costs when the city issues an Invitation to Quote (ITQ). The solicitation requires contractors to meet comprehensive compliance requirements, including specific insurance coverage and adherence to ethical standards. The procurement's due date is April 27, 2028, with the initial posting date of April 8, 2025.

The City of Miami Beach has not specified explicit set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises in this solicitation. The city has been utilizing VMware's infrastructure virtualization technology since 2009 for core technical infrastructure services, including server applications, disaster recovery initiatives, mobility management, and security. No incumbent vendors are specifically mentioned in the documentation. The prequalification pool will allow the Information Technology Department to access multiple vendors for VMware licenses and support, with the city reserving the right to modify requirements or limit the number of firms in the pool. While no specific budget range is detailed, the solicitation suggests a comprehensive approach to maintaining and expanding the city's virtual desktop infrastructure. Interested contractors must demonstrate technical proficiency, financial stability, and the ability to provide comprehensive VMware licensing and support services. The procurement appears designed to create a flexible, long-term solution for the city's virtualization technology needs.
