About this opportunity

The California Military Department (CMD) is seeking a contractor to perform Uninterruptible Power Supply System Repair services at Camp San Luis Obispo, located at 10 Sonoma Avenue, Building 872. The procurement involves a comprehensive replacement and restoration of a Schneider Symmetra PX 60 kW UPS system for critical communications infrastructure supporting the California National Guard J6 Directorate. Specific work requirements include installing nine modular battery units, replacing power supply modules, installing new control and intelligence modules, and replacing monitoring and battery management boards. Only vendors who are manufacturer-authorized by Schneider Electric are eligible to bid on this project. The contractor must complete full system integration and testing, including commissioning in the presence of CMD's Inspector of Record, and provide written functionality reports within 24 hours of completion. Key dates include a Questions and Answers deadline of January 14, 2026, at 12:00 PM, with bids due January 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM, to be submitted via email to Bids@cmd.ca.gov. The project is expected to be completed within 180 calendar days from contract execution, with work performed between 0800 and 1700 hours, Monday through Friday, excluding state holidays.

The solicitation does not specify explicit set-aside designations or provisions for disadvantaged enterprises. The contractor will be responsible for providing proper disposal certification from a CalRecycle-certified recycler within 14 business days for all depleted battery modules and e-waste. Key personnel for the project include Contract Manager MAJ David Ruiz, alternate Ms. Valerie Hernandez, and Inspector of Record David Gonzales. The contractor must comply with all Cal-OSHA safety standards and CMD information technology policies. While no specific pricing information or contract award amounts are disclosed in the RFP document, the project involves a comprehensive technical infrastructure upgrade for a critical military communications system. The CMD will have five business days to review and accept each deliverable against specified acceptance criteria, with a five business day correction period if work is rejected. Potential bidders should note the stringent technical requirements and the need for Schneider Electric manufacturer authorization.
