About this opportunity

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) soliciting market interest and feedback on anticipated industry usage of a proposed commercial spaceport in Utah, with responses due September 14, 2026 by 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time. This is explicitly not a procurement; no contract award or payment will result, and all response costs are the responder's responsibility.

The spaceport would support launch, reentry, recovery, and miscellaneous activities benefiting from low population density, clear airspace, and a remote, secure environment. Potential uses span commercial, academic, and national security test and proving ground activities. The Spaceport Exploration Committee is requesting a short survey and a written response of 1–2 pages explaining how the respondent's organization would use and benefit from the facility.

Responses must include a cover letter with the respondent's name and contact information and a detailed description addressing RFI requirements. All submissions go to mparry@utah.gov or through the Department's Bonfire eProcurement Platform. The SEC may host virtual or in-person briefing meetings offering interested companies and organizations 5–10 minutes to present their proposed spaceport use, though not all briefing requests will be accommodated.

Information submitted becomes UDOT property and may be used to develop a subsequent competitive solicitation. Responses are protected under Utah Code Section 63G-2-305. Respondents may claim business confidentiality for sensitive information such as client lists or non-public financial statements by providing a written claim with supporting justification; pricing and cost proposals cannot be classified as confidential. Failure to respond will not disqualify any company from participation in future spaceport-related solicitations. Interested parties should register in the online bidding system to receive notification of subsequent solicitations.
