About this opportunity
The Town of Simsbury, located in Hartford County, Connecticut, is soliciting bids for a Trail Fencing Replacement project through Request for Proposal (RFP) #13151. The procurement involves installing 2,268 linear feet of 42-inch high, 3-rail fencing with specific requirements including white cedar railings, locust posts with wedge/paddle ends, and all posts to be dirt tamped in place. The contractor will be responsible for completely removing and disposing of all existing wood fencing on the multi-use trail. Work must be performed Monday through Friday, with no work permitted on state or federal holidays without prior approval from the Director of Culture, Parks and Recreation Department. The vendor Q&A period runs from January 18, 2023, through February 2, 2023, and sealed proposals are due by 10:30 AM EST on February 9, 2023, to Amy Meriwether, Director of Finance, at 933 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, CT 06070. All bidding documents and specifications are available electronically through the Town's website at www.simsbury-ct.gov/finance/pages/public-bids-and-rfp, with no mail or fax distribution options. The project requires minimal disruption to trail users during implementation, and Thomas Tyburski from the Department of Culture, Parks and Recreation serves as the primary contact for technical questions.
The RFP does not specify any set-aside designations, disadvantaged enterprise preferences, or restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond. No incumbent vendors or current contractors are mentioned in the documentation. The solicitation appears open to all vendors, with no specific qualifications beyond the ability to meet the technical specifications of the fencing replacement project. Delivery terms are specified as Free On Board Destination, with payment terms to be vendor-specified. The RFP has been designated as having no line items, and critically, no estimated total value or budget range is provided in any of the supporting documentation. The contract appears to be a single-phase project focused on replacing trail fencing with precise material and installation requirements, without indications of potential renewals or extensions. Interested vendors should carefully review the technical specifications and be prepared to complete the work with precision and minimal disruption to the trail's ongoing use.
