About this opportunity

Granite School District is issuing a notice of intent to award a Steinway Piano without engaging in a standard procurement process under Utah Code 63G-6a Part 8, with a challenge submission deadline of June 2, 2026. This is a sole-source or single-source procurement — vendors may contest the award only by submitting documented evidence via email to Angela Pontius at alpontius@graniteschools.org that other qualified vendors exist who can provide comparable or equivalent pianos, including cost comparisons if transitional costs justify the non-competitive award.

Challenging vendors must provide the vendor name and contact person, a detailed explanation with supporting documentation of competing sources, proof that the vendor can supply a comparable or better item meeting or exceeding specifications, and documentation of capability to provide the same proprietary item or an equivalent. If transitional costs are cited as the award justification, the challenger must submit a cost comparison showing anticipated transitional costs against the District's identified costs.

The District's purchasing department has determined in writing that a standard competitive procurement process is impractical or not in the District's best interest, or that a single source exists for the item. No contract value, term, or technical specifications are disclosed in this notice. Contractor eligibility requires debarment certification, System for Award Management (SAM) registration with a DUNS number, and anti-lobbying certification if the contract value exceeds $100,000. Standard District terms apply: one-year warranty on goods, thirty-day inspection period, F.O.B. destination delivery with contractor bearing transportation costs, and thirty-day payment terms from correct invoice receipt. Contractors must maintain commercial general liability insurance of at least $1 million per occurrence, workers' compensation insurance, and comply with E-Verify employment verification. All contracts are governed by Utah law with venue in Salt Lake County's Third Judicial District Court, and the District reserves the right to terminate for convenience with thirty days' written notice.
