About this opportunity

The Melbourne Airport Authority is soliciting lump sum bids for the replacement of the atrium skylight in the main terminal building through an Invitation for Bid (IFB) process. The project is located in Brevard County, Florida, and addresses damage sustained by the existing skylight during recent major hurricanes. The successful bidder will be responsible for comprehensive project delivery including value engineering, scheduling, permitting, subcontractor coordination, work supervision, document control of submittals and requests for information, inspection coordination, commissioning, training, and project closeout. The scope requires the bidder to manage pedestrian traffic within the terminal, coordinate with other active contractors, and provide operational support to maintain airport functions during construction, as the airport will remain operational throughout the installation period. Key qualifications include demonstrated ability to work in active airport environments, coordination and communication skills, and experience with skylight replacement and related building systems. The due date for bid submissions is March 10, 2026, with an Addendum 1 posted on February 19, 2026, and an updated ITB posted on March 19, 2026, indicating ongoing revisions to the project requirements.

The procurement documents do not explicitly specify set-aside designations, disadvantaged enterprise requirements, or incumbent vendor information within the available summary data. The project requires integration with existing airport infrastructure and operations, necessitating seamless coordination with Airport Operations, terminal tenants, and concurrent contractors to minimize conflicts and delays. The Owner has indicated high expectations for the selected bidder's coordination, support, and professionalism throughout the project lifecycle. Detailed technical specifications for the skylight replacement are contained in the structural and architectural plan documents posted on February 3, 2026, totaling approximately 25.8 megabytes of design files. Specific award values or budget ranges are not disclosed in the summary information provided, and interested bidders should consult the complete IFB documents and amendments for comprehensive pricing guidelines, contract terms, and additional requirements.
