About this opportunity
The Alaska Department of Family and Community Services (DFCS) is seeking professional design services for the Sitka Pioneer Home Sidewalk Renovation Plan through Request for Proposal #26253002, a small procurement project. The primary objective is to provide comprehensive bid documents for renovating sidewalks at the Sitka Pioneer Home, with a focus on improving accessibility and safety for residents and visitors. Specific deliverables include 65%, 95%, and Construction Document (CD) level plans, along with a detailed construction cost estimate. The project scope involves removing existing sidewalks, installing new concrete sidewalks, designing ADA-compliant ramps, incorporating supportive structures like handrails, and making drainage and grading improvements to support wheelchair and mobility device access. All work will conform to Alaska DOT Standard Specifications for Highway Construction. Proposals must be submitted electronically to fcs.facilities@alaska.gov or hand-delivered to 240 Main St, Juneau AK, 99801 Ste. 500 by December 3rd, 2024, at 2:00 PM. Potential bidders can direct inquiries to Ryan O'Shaughnessy, Project Manager, at 907-465-3082 or ryan.oshaughnessy@alaska.gov.
The solicitation indicates potential application of Alaska statutory preferences, which may include considerations for Alaska Bidders, Alaska Veterans, and Alaska Products. The estimated contract amount ranges between $100,000 and $150,000, with a preference for a fixed-price contract, though a cost-reimbursement contract remains possible if a fixed price cannot be negotiated. The procurement allows for bidder preferences for Alaska Bidders, Veterans, Employment Programs, and Disabled Persons. Contractors must be prepared to perform all services within the United States unless a specific waiver is granted. Evaluation criteria will assess demonstrated comprehension of required services, relevant experience of proposed personnel, proposed project schedule, and price estimate. While no incumbent vendor is specifically mentioned, the project is located in Sitka and involves renovation of an existing facility. The successful contractor will need to comply with state licensing, registration, and insurance requirements, and must demonstrate the ability to provide professional design services that meet ADA guidelines and local construction standards.
