About this opportunity

The Colorado Department of Corrections is requesting quotes on Mossberg 590A1 PRO 12-gauge shotguns under Documented Quote DQ 2027000122, with quotes due October 22, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time and virtual public quote opening to follow. Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs) certified through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and meeting Colorado incorporation or business location requirements may qualify for consideration.

The scope covers 186 units of Mossberg 590A1 PRO with 18.5-inch barrels, Cerakote finish, and synthetic stocks capable of holding six rounds, plus 110 units with grain finish and MPI-equipped configuration. All shotguns must meet full MIL-SPEC 33443G compliance, feature 3-inch chambers, heavy-walled barrels, metal trigger guards and safety buttons with Parkerized finishes, top-mounted ambidextrous safety controls, dual extractors, twin action bars, anti-jam elevators, and XS Ghost Ring Sights with optics-ready receivers. Direct shipment to CDOC Central Armory in Canon City, Colorado is required. Bidders must submit trade-in credit values for the Department's current inventory of serviceable and non-serviceable Remington 870 shotguns and provide lead time information. All pricing is all-inclusive with shipping costs incorporated into the bid; no additional shipping, surcharges, or taxes are payable by CDOC. Pricing must remain firm during the Purchase Order term.

The initial Purchase Order runs October 28, 2026 through June 30, 2027, with one optional one-year renewal not to exceed two years total, subject to available appropriations and CDOC discretion. Annual price increases are capped at 2.5% if renewed, subject to mutual agreement. No order quantities or dollar amounts are guaranteed. Award will be made to the responsible bidder whose acceptable quote is most advantageous to CDOC, with price as the primary consideration and sample quality and lead time as secondary factors. Awarded contractors must complete an enhanced criminal background investigation and security clearance within 30 days of notification. Prior to Purchase Order execution, bidders must provide proof of good standing with the Colorado Secretary of State and required insurance certificates. Notice of intent to award is estimated October 19, 2026.
