About this opportunity
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) is seeking to contract with a vendor to implement a medical sharps collection program across the state. The vendor will be responsible for providing various sized storage containers, as well as packing, pickup, transportation, and disposal (or recycling) of the collected medical waste from an estimated 200-300 collection sites. The initial contract term is 4 years, with the potential for up to 2 additional 2-year renewal terms, not to exceed a total of 10 years. Vendors must have a potentially infectious medical waste hauling permit and all other applicable permits, licenses, and insurance. Pricing for the initial term and any renewal periods must be submitted through the BidBuy procurement system, and the total payments under the contract shall not exceed the maximum amount stated.
While the procurement is not subject to a small business set-aside, the State may require the selected vendor to comply with the Business Enterprise Program and Veteran Small Business participation goals, if applicable. The IFB does not specify any incumbent vendors or current contractors, nor does it provide details on the award value or budget range. Submissions must be made electronically through the BidBuy platform by the October 7, 2022 due date, as per the State's notice requiring electronic submissions only for competitive solicitations.
