About this opportunity

Schenectady County is soliciting bids for RFB-2025-31, a procurement for emergency vehicle upfitting services targeting multiple vehicles for the Sheriff's Department and Office of Emergency Management. The specific procurement involves purchasing and installing aftermarket emergency equipment for six vehicles: three 2025 Ford Interceptors, two 2025 Ford Explorers, and one 2025 Chevrolet Express 15-passenger van. Required equipment includes emergency lighting systems, communication hardware, vehicle partitions, gun lockers, and miscellaneous electrical and mounting components from manufacturers like Whelen, Progard, Lund, and Havis. Bidders must submit comprehensive documentation, including physical and digital bid item sheets, with all proposals due by August 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM. The county will evaluate bids based on total base bid pricing, with the flexibility to award contracts on a per-item or aggregate basis, and reserves the right to investigate bidder responsibility and reject any non-compliant submissions.

The procurement encourages participation from women and minority-owned businesses and is structured as an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action procurement. Bidders must provide additional documentation including non-collusion certificates, Iranian and Russian divestment forms, and sexual harassment prevention certification. Insurance requirements are substantial, mandating $1,000,000 in general liability coverage, $1,000,000 in automobile liability, and appropriate workers' compensation coverage. While specific budget ranges are not explicitly stated, the comprehensive nature of the upfitting requirements suggests a potentially significant contract value. The contract will be effective for one year from the award date, with potential renewals for up to three additional one-year terms at the county's discretion. Bid specifications can be obtained through BidNet Direct or by requesting information from the Schenectady County Purchasing Department, with both digital and paper copies available for review.
