About this opportunity

Carson City Airport Authority is requesting bids for runway safety area grading and drainage work, including runway extension and repaving at Carson City Airport under IFB funded by FAA Airport Improvement Program Grant 3-32-0004-046-2025, with sealed bids due July 7, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. This is a federal-aid project subject to Davis-Bacon and Nevada prevailing wage requirements (the higher of federal or state rates applies), FAA Buy American Preference compliance, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise participation requirements, and debarment and trade restriction certifications.

The scope includes removing the stop way and extending the runway 1,000 feet north and 500 feet south; repaving the existing runway; relocating the runway 33 glide slope (the new runway 33 localizer has been installed by FAA Technical Operations and requires activation only); and maintaining runway 15 localizer operations. Work encompasses approximately 1,150 cubic yards of excavation and embankment, 3,250 cubic yards of excavation and export, 12,816 square yards of aggregate base course and hot mix asphalt surface course, 18,600 square feet of pavement markings, 12,417 linear feet of electrical cable installation, adjustment of existing runway edge lights to grade, and miscellaneous electrical work.

The Engineer's Opinion of Probable Cost ranges from $1.8 million to $2.065 million. Bid security of at least five percent of the base bid amount is required, payable as a Surety bond, Certified Check, or Cashier's Check. Bids remain valid for 60 days from opening. Contractors must maintain a valid Nevada Contractor's License classification and obtain a Carson City Airport Business License within ten days of award. Contractors must perform at least 50 percent of the work themselves and are prohibited from subcontracting more than 50 percent of the bid amount. The three lowest bidders must submit detailed subcontractor listings within two hours of bid opening for subcontractors exceeding one percent of the bid amount or $50,000, whichever is greater. Questions close June 30, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for June 19, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Carson City Airport Office, 2600 East College Parkway, Carson City, Nevada 89706.
