About this opportunity
Royal Oak Schools' Board of Education is soliciting bids for renovation of the natural grass practice field at Royal Oak High School, with proposals due November 4, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. local time. Each proposal must include two sworn and notarized statements: one disclosing familial relationships between the contractor's owner or employees and Board members or the Superintendent, and one certifying the contractor is not an Iran Linked Business. Proposals missing either statement will not be accepted.
Addendum No. 4, which supersedes prior bid documents, sets three options. The base bid re-establishes the field crown using existing onsite soils. Alternate Bid #1 removes and replaces 2 inches of existing topsoil with clean imported topsoil, and Alternate Bid #2 does the same at 4 inches. Scope includes grading, drainage with a revised minimum draintile cover of 14 inches, and sod installation, with reused onsite soils requiring testing and approval. Contractors must field verify existing grades, drainage structure locations, and invert elevations before work begins, and must notify landscape architect Foresite Design, Inc. of discrepancies. Construction traffic is restricted to marked areas, using low-pressure ground track equipment or flotation tires. Receipt of Addendum No. 4 must be noted on the proposal form, and failure to note it carries disqualification risk. The project site is 1500 Lexington Boulevard, Royal Oak, Michigan 48073.
Proposals must be submitted electronically through Buildingconnected.com, as in-person and delivery-service bids are not accepted. The November 4 deadline replaces earlier dates of October 23, October 26, October 27, and November 2. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting was held October 15, 2026, and site visits require appointments with Mark Paulus at mark.paulus@royaloakschools.org or (248) 880-6791. The Board reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, waive informalities, and award to other than the lowest bidder in its sole discretion.
