About this opportunity
The City of Durango, located in La Plata County, Colorado, is seeking bids for the Rockridge Pump Station Replacement project, a comprehensive municipal infrastructure upgrade. The procurement involves furnishing and installing a new factory-built booster pump station, which includes three Cornell Pump Company close-coupled end suction centrifugal pumps rated for 325 GPM at 300 feet total dynamic head. Key deliverables include salvaging the existing pump station, installing a 250 kW Cummins backup generator with an automatic transfer switch, implementing new pipelines with waterline connections, installing two gate valves, constructing security fencing, extending communication and electrical conduits, and restoring surface conditions. The project has strict operational constraints, including a maximum 5-hour shutdown period during the station cutover. Bids are due by August 11, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. local time, with a non-mandatory pre-bid conference scheduled for July 15, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. The City will evaluate bids based on the lowest responsive and responsible bid, with a 5% preference for local La Plata County bidders and a 3% preference for regional bidders from Region 9 of Colorado.
The procurement allows for broad participation, with no specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises, though local and regional bidders receive preferential consideration. Contractors must provide a 5% bid bond and will be required to obtain performance and payment bonds for 100% of the contract price. The existing infrastructure includes a current pump station that will be salvaged for future city use, and the new system must integrate with the City of Durango's existing SCADA and control systems. While specific budget details are not explicitly stated, the comprehensive nature of the project suggests a significant capital investment. The project is fully funded by the City of Durango, with a planned construction period of 125 calendar days, commencing on April 6, 2026, and expected completion by August 8, 2026. Bidders must possess a City of Durango Business License, provide evidence of workers' compensation and liability insurance, and comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
