About this opportunity

The Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Recreation and Parks, Bureau of Design and Construction in the state of Florida is issuing a Request for Statement of Qualifications (RFSOQ) for professional architecture/engineering firms to replace the existing Interpretive Center at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park with a new, updated facility. The project scope involves designing a resilient structure that reflects the park's mission of protecting and preserving the only living coral reef in the continental United States. Qualified firms must be licensed to work in Florida and will be evaluated on their experience, approach, and ability to meet the aesthetic and long-term durability requirements. Statements of qualifications are due by September 29, 2022, at 4:00 PM, with a recommended short list for oral discussions to be posted on November 9, 2022, and anticipated oral discussions to begin on January 11, 2023. The anticipated posting of the recommended award is January 18, 2023.

The procurement does not appear to have any set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond. The notice does not identify any incumbent vendors or current contractors, nor does it provide information on existing infrastructure or technology that may require integration. While the notice does not specify a budget or award value range, the project's objective of replacing the existing Interpretive Center with a new, resilient structure suggests a significant investment in this state park facility.
