About this opportunity
The City of Atlanta, on behalf of the Department of Watershed Management (DWM), is seeking qualified organizations to provide innovative approaches to implement a pilot program to evaluate the transition from the current Automated Meter Reading (AMR) system and existing mechanical meters to an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solution with smart meters. The pilot program requires up to 100 meters, with the mix between residential and commercial meters to be determined jointly between the selected vendor(s) and the City. The City expects to select two vendors to each perform a six-month pilot, with the final phase being implementation with the City's new Meter Data Management (MDM) system, COMPASS. The proposal due date has been extended to March 25, 2024.
The City has a 20% Small Business Enterprise (SBE) subcontracting goal for this project, but there are no payment or performance bond requirements for the pilot program. The City anticipates a full AMI deployment could take up to five years or longer following the pilot program. The City will provide further details on meter locations, sizes, and conditions to the selected vendor(s). The City has not listed any incumbent vendors or current contractors, and the value of the contract is not specified.
