RFP 117-22 Barcode Printers

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is seeking the replacement of 80 warehouse parts scanners and 35 barcode printers under RFP 117-22. The MBTA requires new, plug-and-play hardware, peripherals, warranty, maintenance plans, product training, and knowledge transfer. The RFP outlines detailed technical specifications for the scanners and printers, including required compatibility, wireless communication encryption, wireless radio communication thresholds, and warranty/maintenance coverage. Bidders must submit their technical and pricing proposals by October 12, 2022, and the MBTA anticipates awarding the contract by October 31, 2022 for a one-year term, with potential continuation for a second year at the MBTA's discretion. Pricing will be evaluated in combination with technical factors on a best-value basis.

The MBTA encourages participation from small, minority, women, and other disadvantaged businesses, and the RFP includes applicable affirmative action and non-discrimination requirements. The MBTA has selected SAB Solutions Inc. as the vendor for this procurement, and the award is contingent upon receiving a fully executed agreement. The RFP does not provide details on the contract value or budget range, but does state that the MBTA reserves the right to add additional equipment at the same unit prices listed.
