About this opportunity
Cheboygan Area Schools is soliciting sealed bids for the remodeling and renovation of the High School Welding Lab facility located at 801 W. Lincoln, Cheboygan, Michigan 49721. Sealed bids must be submitted to the Cheboygan School Board Office (7461 N. Straits Hwy, Cheboygan, MI 49721) no later than 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018, with a public bid opening scheduled for 10:00 a.m. the same day. Bid documents, including detailed plans and specifications, are available in digital format from Seidell Architects (contact Jen Wilt at jen@seidellarchitect.com or 989-731-0372) beginning July 10, 2018, with printed copies available for purchase from Traverse Reproduction at 231-947-6284. The project timeline is compressed, requiring work to commence on July 23, 2018, and be completed by the end of September 2018, with a mandatory pre-construction meeting to be held with all contractors prior to on-site work initiation. All labor, materials, equipment, and miscellaneous items necessary for project completion, including sales tax on materials, must be included in the bid price. The contractor must maintain public and automobile liability insurance with limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $1,000,000 aggregate, as well as Workers' Compensation and Employer's Liability insurance, with performance and payment bonds to be arranged by the architect. Award will be based on the low bid, though the school district reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive irregularities as deemed in its best interest, with bids remaining firm for 30 days following the bid opening date.
The procurement documents do not specify any set-aside designations or restrictions limiting participation to particular categories of organizations such as disadvantaged enterprises or minority-owned businesses. No incumbent vendors, current contractors, or existing infrastructure integration requirements are identified in the available solicitation materials. Monthly contractor payments will be made based on the percentage of completed work and materials stored on site, with a 5% retainage withheld and issued on or about the last day of each month following submission of AIA Forms G-702 and G-703 with corresponding lien waivers. The contract will be governed by the 2007 edition of the AIA Document A201 General Conditions, and the contractor must provide a one-year guarantee period from the date work is accepted by the owner. No specific budget range or award value is disclosed in the solicitation materials provided.
