About this opportunity
The City of Wichita Public Works & Utilities Department is requesting bids for removal and replacement of basketball courts at Buffalo Park and Minisa Park, with bids due August 7, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., and a mandatory pre-bid conference on July 22 at 10:00 a.m. via Microsoft Teams.
The scope includes demolition of existing asphalt courts and installation of new 5-inch reinforced concrete courts (60 feet by 94 feet with 50-foot by 84-foot playing surfaces) at both locations; concrete paths 6 feet wide and 4 inches thick; First Team Tyrant Select basketball goal systems with clear acrylic backboards; NCAA-standard court striping with dark blue 2-inch lines in two coats; 6-foot Superior International benches on concrete bases; trash receptacle stands; tree removal and replacement where necessary with orange construction fencing at driplines; and site restoration with annual rye and Bermuda grass "Yukon" variety seeding. All work must comply with U.S. Basketball Court Builders Association standards. Concrete must be City-approved 6.6 sack mix with maximum 5-inch slump, welded wire fabric reinforcement (W-6X6), and medium broom finishing with minimum three-day curing before striping. The project is divided into two bid groups: Group 1 for Minisa Park and Group 2 for Buffalo Park, with lump sum items for mobilization, demolition, grading, concrete court installation, and site restoration, plus measured quantity items for benches, concrete paths, goal systems, and trash stands.
The contractor must have three years' experience in similar services, understand industry standards, demonstrate capacity for comparable-sized projects, maintain Kansas Secretary of State registration, and provide a 5% bid bond and performance/labor and material bonds equal to the contract value. Award will be based on lowest and best total net bid from a responsible and responsive vendor. The contractor has 60 working days (Monday through Saturday, excluding official city holidays) to complete all work. Questions affecting bid items are due by noon the Tuesday prior to bid opening; clarification questions are due by noon the Wednesday prior. Bids submitted may not be withdrawn for 60 days following opening. Submissions are electronic through the City's Procurement Portal or via email to Val Falo at VFalo@wichita.gov. Contact: Val Falo, (316) 268-4414, VFalo@wichita.gov, or fax (316) 268-4656.
