About this opportunity

The Long Beach Public Utilities Department is requesting bids on the rehabilitation of sewer lift stations S-19, S-28, and S-29, with proposals due September 1, 2026.

The scope encompasses civil, structural, mechanical equipment, and electrical rehabilitation across three stations located at 651 Queensway Drive (S-19), 5751 Boathouse Lane (S-28), and 1126 Queens Highway (S-29). Work is organized into four main phases: a 6-inch sewer lateral extension to S-30; replacement of a 10-inch sewer force main; S-29 mechanical demolition; and comprehensive rehabilitation of S-19 and S-28 including mechanical demolition, bypass assembly installation, and new equipment integration. Mechanical components include submersible pumps, pressure transducers, sump pumps, float switches, bypass assemblies, check valves, and isolation equipment. Electrical work requires installation of new RTU/pump control panels in NEMA 4X stainless steel enclosures, PLC-based automation systems with M340 controllers, multiple 37.5 KVA transformer enclosures, manual transfer switches, circuit breakers, and instrumentation including ultrasonic level transmitters and flow meters. Traffic control plans are required for Queens Highway and Queensway Drive per California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices standards. Construction must maintain lift station operations during phased rehabilitation activities using temporary bypass systems.

The final specifications and a 31-sheet design drawing set (including title sheets, general notes, benchmark and location maps, civil and mechanical details, electrical systems, PLC I/O diagrams, control panel elevations, and traffic control plans) were posted August 6, 2026. The design was completed by JIG Consultants. Questions are due prior to the September 1 proposal deadline.
