About this opportunity

The School Board of Brevard County, Florida is requesting proposals for single-stream recycling collection services at an estimated 84 to 104 locations throughout the District, with proposals due October 19, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. ET under RFP 27-0203-P-JD.

The respondent will collect and transport unshredded, empty, clean, loose recyclable materials—office paper, cardboard, aluminum and steel cans, and rigid plastics #1 and #2—from District schools, departments, and ancillary facilities. The awardee must provide educational resources on proper recycling practices, coordinate collection schedules to avoid conflicts with District operations, maintain service containers, and supply monthly reporting on collections and inspections. Vehicles must be GPS-equipped with cameras. The respondent is responsible for damages arising from service delivery and must comply with OSHA safety standards. Monthly invoices must detail facility names, container sizes, collection frequency, net weights, costs per cubic yard and per haul, disposal fees, contamination costs, overflow costs, and recycling credits. A monthly inspection audit report must identify ten locations for material inspection, with no location audited more than once per contract year. All materials must be weighed using accurate methods with scale tickets provided upon request. The respondent must provide 24-hour missed pickup correction and respond to District requests within two hours. An optional proposal for a food waste recycling program is requested.

The contract term is three years with an optional two-year renewal period contingent upon mutual written agreement and School Board approval. Pricing must remain firm for at least sixty days and include all delivery charges. The School Board reserves the right to award one or multiple contracts and may cancel, reject proposals, or re-advertise at its discretion.

Questions are due October 5, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. ET. Proposals must be submitted electronically through the OpenGov e-Procurement Portal. No pre-proposal meeting is scheduled.
