About this opportunity

The Board of Education of the Fontana Unified School District is requesting proposals for the purchase and delivery of seven refrigerated trucks under RFP No. 26/27-0010, with proposals due October 5, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. through the Procurement Portal; questions are due by September 23, 2026 at noon.

The scope includes new, current model year or newer refrigerated trucks with aluminum bodies (16–18 feet), rear roll-up cargo doors, and liftgates with minimum 3,500-pound capacity. Refrigeration units must maintain temperatures at 41°F or below with digital temperature controls. Interior LED lighting, backup cameras, and comprehensive safety features are required. All pricing is firm and fixed on an F.O.B. Destination basis to the Fontana Unified School District Transportation Department, including equipment, chassis, refrigerated body, refrigeration unit, liftgate, delivery, training, warranties, and DMV registration services. Sales tax and California tire fees will be added separately. The vendor is responsible for all freight, handling, documentation, pre-delivery inspection, and DMV registration; no fuel surcharges are permitted during the contract term.

Desired delivery is by June 30, 2027, though partial deliveries are acceptable. The contract period runs from award through final acceptance and completion of warranty obligations. The District reserves the right to purchase additional vehicles under the same terms for up to 24 months following award, subject to funding and mutual agreement.

Award will be made to the highest-scored responsive proposal based on price (40 points), compliance with specifications (25 points), warranty and service support (15 points), delivery schedule (10 points), and experience and references (10 points). Proposers must demonstrate financial resources, provide three references for similar work, and submit federal certifications including debarment, lobbying, equal opportunity, workers' compensation, and Iran Contracting Act compliance. This project utilizes National School Lunch Program funds, requiring compliance with all applicable federal and state requirements. Tentative finalist interviews are scheduled October 12–16, 2026, with a tentative award date of November 4, 2026. Proposals cannot be withdrawn for 90 days after the submission deadline.
