About this opportunity
The State of Maine Division of Purchases is soliciting bids for the provision and installation of Herman Miller panels and surfaces at the Department of Motor Vehicles, with bids due September 7, 2007.
The scope comprises a phased renovation across four DMV areas: Phase 1 (Admin Area) and Phases 2–4 (Motor Carriers, Dealer/Titles, Registration). Phase 1 requires new panels, electrical connectors, and "as new" surfaces; Phases 2–4 require "as new" Herman Miller components and electrical connectors. Construction services include dismantling existing workstations, relocating lateral and vertical files and equipment, installing new carpeting, and reassembling workstations in the new configuration. All work must be completed during non-work hours, including evenings and weekends, to minimize disruption to DMV operations. Bidders must submit separate quotes for product and construction components for each phase.
In cases of tied bids, the State grants preference to in-state bidders or those offering products manufactured in Maine. The State reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive formalities, and award to the lowest responsible bidder. Bidders must submit unit prices for each item including all applicable discounts and delivery to the designated destination; pricing must exclude Federal and Maine State sales and use taxes. All transportation charges must be prepaid by the contractor unless otherwise specified. Cash discounts offered for payment in less than 20 days will not be considered in award decisions. Delivery timelines must be stated in definite terms. The State may increase or decrease ordered quantities by up to 10 percent at its discretion. Sealed bids must be received by the Division of Purchases, Room 119, State Office Building, Augusta, Maine, prior to the opening deadline; bids received after the deadline will not be considered. Contractors must provide material safety data sheets for any hazardous chemicals per Maine's Chemical Substance Identification Law.
