About this opportunity

The City of Ocala, located in Marion County, Florida, is seeking a qualified vendor to provide protective coating services for municipal dumpsters through Request for Quotation (RFQ) #PWD250620. The procurement involves coating the interior bottoms of 20 six-cubic-yard and 30 eight-cubic-yard dumpsters for the Public Works Sanitation Division. Key deliverables include surface preparation, primer application, and specialized coating using manufacturer-recommended products like Kem Kromik Universal Metal Primer or Macropoxy 646 Fast Cure Epoxy. Vendor qualifications include the ability to perform a minimum of 30% of work with their own forces and obtain advance approval for any subcontractors. The evaluation criteria focus on the lowest bidder meeting all specified requirements, with bids to be submitted on a unit price basis. The contract will have an initial two-year term beginning June 25, 2025, with one optional one-year renewal, and proposals are due by April 30, 2025.

The solicitation does not explicitly mention specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. Insurance requirements are detailed, including $1,000,000 per occurrence commercial general liability, $1,000,000 combined commercial automotive liability, and workers' compensation per Florida statutes. The vendor must provide a ten-year material and labor warranty against operational failure. While no specific budget range is provided, the City will only pay for actual units coated, offering financial flexibility. Any potential price increases during renewal terms will be limited to 3% annually and based on the Consumer Price Index. The procurement appears to be an open competition for vendors capable of providing specialized dumpster coating services, with the primary goal of extending the operational life of municipal waste management infrastructure.
