About this opportunity

The New Mexico Department of Public Safety's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau (CVE) is seeking a professional services contract to upgrade the existing Smart Roadside Inspection Systems (SRIS) with Smart Roadways Alerts software at all New Mexico Port of Entries. The primary contractor will be responsible for setting up and deploying Smart Roadways Alerts, creating coverage corridors, configuring and deploying a reporting dashboard, providing 6 Tableau software licenses, and delivering one comprehensive dashboard training session with a reference guide. The project's key objectives include integrating commercial truck industry electronic logging devices to send real-time alerts to in-cab devices, which will enable truck drivers to proactively adjust routes or speed to reduce crash risks and associated costs. The contract opportunity is posted as a sole source procurement with Drivewyze, LTD as the identified vendor, given their ownership of the proprietary SRIS system originally installed in 2009. The contract was posted on February 13, 2025, with a proposal submission deadline of March 13, 2025, spanning a two-year implementation period.

The procurement appears to be a sole source contract specifically targeting Drivewyze, LTD, with no explicit set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises mentioned in the documentation. The existing infrastructure involves the current Smart Roadside Inspection Systems installed in 2009, which demonstrate high performance metrics including 94% decode rates for CVSA decal readers, 93% for Hazmat placard readers, 90% detection rate for thermal inspections, and 96% decode rate for truck identification and vehicle matching. The total contract value is estimated at $252,681.76 before tax, with an additional $12,318.24 anticipated for tax expenses. The technological upgrade aims to enhance commercial vehicle safety by providing real-time alerts through electronic logging devices, ultimately improving travel time efficiency and reducing potential transportation-related incidents. Follow-up meetings are planned to review performance, address questions, and discuss continuous improvement opportunities throughout the contract period.
