About this opportunity
California Department of General Services Procurement Division is issuing a Request for Information on PPE Advanced Cleaning, Advanced Inspection, Repair, and CO2 Cleaning services, with responses due October 7, 2026. This RFI precedes a competitive Invitation for Bid anticipated in early 2027 and does not require participation to bid on the resulting contract.
The scope encompasses advanced cleaning, inspection, and repair of structural firefighting protective ensemble (SFPE) and wildland firefighting protective ensemble (WFPE) gear, plus CO2 cleaning services. Suppliers must be National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Verified Independent Service Providers and demonstrate capability to service all manufacturer PPE regardless of source. CO2 cleaning must be deliverable within a 14-business-day turnaround. Service delivery spans 10 defined geographic regions across California, with particular emphasis on capacity to meet peak fire-season demand and accommodate accelerated delivery schedules. Respondents should clarify advanced cleaning processes, inspection methodologies, minimum and maximum PPE item capacity, shipping and packaging procedures, and capability to provide supplementary services such as equipment rental, pump system maintenance, and extractor reprogramming.
California Small Business (SB) or Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) certification status is an evaluation criterion. Suppliers must accommodate Net 45 payment terms and extended payment periods of up to 75 days during declared fire seasons for non-small business suppliers.
The resulting contract will be mandatory for Cal Fire and non-mandatory for all other state agencies, with availability for local governmental agencies. The contract structure is three years plus two optional one-year renewal extensions. Respondents submit the Response Worksheet (Attachment A) and supporting product literature to Traci Fortier at Traci.Fortier@dgs.ca.gov or (279) 239-6158. RFI responses become public records subject to the California Public Records Act; supplier costs for RFI response development are not reimbursable by the state.
