About this opportunity

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is soliciting bids for patching and resurfacing work on Interstate 74, Main Street, and US Route 150 in Knox County, with electronic bids due June 12, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. to the iCX system.

The scope spans 6.17 miles of Interstate 74 (from 0.3 mile west of East Main Street in Galesburg to east of the Illinois Route 97 interchange), 0.40 miles of Main Street (from 0.2 mile east of Michigan Avenue to 0.1 mile east of Soangetaha Road), and 1.19 miles of US Route 150 and Illinois Route 97. Work includes hot-mix asphalt milling and resurfacing at various depths, partial depth patching, guardrail removal and replacement, drainage inlet adjustments, ditch grading and shaping, seeding, pavement markings, and traffic control measures. The contractor must maintain at least one lane of traffic in each direction at all times; weekend ramp closures are permitted only between 6:00 p.m. Friday and 5:00 a.m. Monday, and the roadway must be open to traffic at the end of each day with no permanent lane closures allowed.

The project is funded through NHPP-STP federal construction funds and is located in IDOT District 4. Payment is structured on unit prices for hot-mix asphalt surface removal (per square yard by depth), guardrail work (per foot or each), inlet adjustments (per each), grading and shaping (per foot), and traffic control and protection (lump sum). The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Special provisions address Equal Employment Opportunity compliance, subletting restrictions, quality control and assurance testing for Portland cement concrete and hot-mix asphalt, labor compliance, performance bonds, construction sequencing, material quality standards, and inspection requirements, including geopolymer pipe liner installation specifications and linear delineator panel performance with a 180-day winter performance inspection period.
