About this opportunity
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is seeking competitive sealed bids for an Overhead Crane Bridge Wheels Replacement project at the FDOT Structures Research Center in Tallahassee, Florida. The procurement involves completely removing and replacing bridge trolley wheels and bearings for two 20-ton overhead cranes (models 4296-1 & 4296-2), including all associated labor, materials, and mechanical equipment. Key deliverables include supplying bridge drive and idler wheel assemblies, providing rental equipment (2 manlifts), performing rail and wheel alignment, and ensuring compliance with 20-ton lifting capacity specifications. A mandatory pre-bid site visit is scheduled for November 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with strict attendance requirements that will disqualify late vendors. Technical questions are due by November 10-11, 2025, at 5:00 PM, and final bids must be submitted by November 19, 2025, at 9:00 AM to the Central Procurement Office. The contract term is anticipated to begin on the purchase order issuance date and continue until May 30, 2026, with potential renewal options for up to three years. Pricing will be evaluated on a comprehensive package basis, considering the entire bid package including freight, rigging, and equipment.
All bidders must be registered in the State of Florida's MyFloridaMarketplace system and out-of-state corporations must be authorized to do business in Florida. Vendors must have appropriate licensing from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation if their business requires specific professional credentials. Insurance requirements include $200,000 minimum general liability per person and $300,000 per occurrence, along with Workers' Compensation insurance. While no specific set-aside designations are mentioned, vendors must comply with state procurement regulations and be prepared to provide comprehensive documentation. The project will be funded through the state's annual appropriations, with the procurement managed by Procurement Agent Cassandra Anderson. Though a specific budget range is not explicitly stated, the comprehensive nature of the project—involving two 20-ton overhead cranes, wheel replacements, equipment rental, and associated labor—suggests a substantial contract value. The bid opening and potential award are scheduled for November 19, 2025, indicating a rapid procurement process with potential for immediate project initiation.
