About this opportunity

The Borough of Madison is requesting bids for on-site log and brush grinding services for its Public Works Department under ITB, with bids due September 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Hartley Dodge Memorial Building, Madison, New Jersey. Services will be performed at the Public Works Yard, 10 John Avenue, during standard hours (7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday), with work days coordinated with the Public Works Director.

The scope includes grinding logs and already-removed stumps up to 36 inches in diameter (and possibly larger) collected during routine operations, with debris removal from the site. Multi-day projects are charged at the full-day rate multiplied by the number of days, with partial days prorated. Bid prices must remain firm for 60 days.

The initial contract term is one year from execution, with the Borough reserving the right to extend for two additional one-year periods at the same rates and terms. The Borough has indicated the possibility of utilizing services at least three times during the contract period with no guarantee of work volume. Contractors have 30 days from Purchase Order issuance to complete work, with a 10 percent penalty per occurrence for delays beyond this timeframe.

Contractors must provide workers compensation, general liability, commercial auto, excess/umbrella, property, and pollution liability coverage with minimum limits of $1,000,000; maintain a current New Jersey Business Registration Certificate; and submit affirmative action evidence. The question deadline is August 20, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Site visits to the Public Works Yard are strongly encouraged and may be scheduled by contacting Robert Duffy at 973-593-3088 or duffyr@rosenet.org.
