About this opportunity
The Granite School District in Salt Lake County, Utah, is issuing a Notice of Intent to Award without engaging in a standard procurement process for a specialized educational service related to a private placement for a special education student with behavioral issues. This procurement opportunity is being conducted in accordance with Utah Code Part 63G-6a Part 8 and Utah Administrative Code R33-108, specifically targeting a unique educational service requirement. The district is seeking a vendor capable of providing a proprietary or equivalent procurement item for this specific student's needs. The notice was posted on September 18, 2025, with a response deadline of September 26, 2025. Potential vendors must submit any challenges or alternative proposals via email to Jared Gardner at jbgardner@graniteschools.org, including detailed documentation demonstrating their ability to meet or exceed the specified requirements.
The procurement appears to be restricted to vendors who can directly address the specific educational needs of the special education student, with no explicit set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises mentioned. Vendors must provide comprehensive documentation proving they can offer a comparable or better procurement item that meets the district's precise specifications. While no specific budget range is disclosed, the procurement is characterized as a continuation of an existing private placement, suggesting potential ongoing service requirements. The opportunity is structured to allow for a direct award without standard competitive bidding processes, based on the unique circumstances and potential single-source nature of the service. Interested vendors must be prepared to submit extensive documentation about their capabilities, transitional costs, and ability to meet the specialized educational service requirements for the student with behavioral issues.
