About this opportunity
Northview Public Schools is requesting trade contractor proposals for an Athletics Stadium Addition & Renovation project in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with bids due September 21, 2026 at 11:00 AM ET via Procore Bidding and a mandatory pre-bid walkthrough on September 2, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the project site.
The project encompasses four bid categories: Bleachers and associated work, Press Box, Earthwork, and Cast-in-Place Concrete. Bleacher scope includes structures with 10 PSF dead load and 120 PLF live load on seats, with storm water management through vertical drainage in a partially open deck system. Dant Clayton Corporation's Alum-A-Stand welded aluminum bleacher system is an approved substitute for angle frame bleachers, featuring aluminum tube and channel construction with 5-year structural warranty and 3-year finish warranty. Auxiliary angle frame bleacher risers must be finished with clear anodized aluminum; tread planks remain mill finish. The Stadium Pressbox is 347 square feet with maximum occupancy of 49 persons; the Auxiliary Pressbox is 171 square feet with maximum occupancy of 24 persons. Both pressbox facilities require 100 PSF floor and roof loads and ADA 2010 Standards compliance. Concrete work includes foundations and flatwork for bleachers, grandstand, and press box using 21AA aggregate base materials. All bleacher contractors must provide signed and sealed engineered drawings and an approved Building Systems Approval Report per Michigan Building Code requirements, based on the 2021 International Building Code and ICC 300 standards.
Bid security equal to five percent of the Base Bid is required in bond, certified check, or cashier's check form. Performance and Labor and Material Payment Bonds covering 100 percent of contract value must be quoted separately and provided within fifteen days of contract acceptance. This is not a prevailing wage project; Michigan use and sales tax apply. Change order fees are ten percent for labor and materials and five percent for subcontractor quotes. No single trade contract may exceed fifty percent of the Lump Sum Base Bid without written approval from Rockford Construction. Proposals remain firm for ninety days from bid opening. Post-bid interviews will be conducted via Zoom between September 22 and September 28, 2026. The anticipated contract award date is October 13, 2026, with construction anticipated to commence in Fall 2027.
