About this opportunity
The State of Michigan, through the Department of Natural Resources, Parks & Recreation Division, Stewardship Unit, is seeking bids for the control of non-native invasive plants, primarily phragmites, at 17 state parks located in several counties across the state. The work includes applying herbicide to target species such as phragmites, purple loosestrife, flowering rush, reed canary grass, and non-native cattail within designated treatment areas. The project must be completed between August 15, 2022 and September 28, 2022. Mandatory pre-bid meetings are scheduled for Algonac, Bay City, and Sterling State Parks, while prospective bidders are encouraged to visit the other 14 parks on their own prior to bidding. Bids are due by August 1, 2022. Pricing will be submitted on a lump sum basis for each park, except for Bay City State Recreation Area which has three line items. Bidders may submit bids for any combination of parks, and a different vendor may be awarded for each park. The successful bidder must be a pre-qualified vendor with experience controlling invasive species and possess the necessary expertise and equipment to complete the work effectively while minimizing damage to surrounding native vegetation.
The contract opportunity is open to all eligible vendors, but the contractor must hold an Invasive Species pre-qualification in the areas of herbaceous control and herbicide application to be eligible for this project. The state reserves the right to award in full or in part, and the pricing provided must be valid for at least 30 days from the bid due date. The contract value is not specified, but the state will evaluate all proposals and make awards deemed in the best interest of the state.
