About this opportunity
The State of Maine Military Bureau is requesting bids for a new Class 5-V vault door for the Brewer Armory, with sealed bids due September 26, 2008. A local-vendor preference applies to in-state bidders or those offering commodities produced or manufactured in Maine where price, quality, conformity, and delivery are otherwise equal.
The scope is a single right-opening swing Class 5-V vault door per GSA Federal Specifications, measuring 3' 9" x 6' 6.5" with a rough opening of 3' 7.5" x 6' 5.5" in an 8-inch thick brick wall. The door must be equipped with a key change combination lock and single lock, finished in gray or dark bronze with zinc plating if available, and bear a GSA label. All vault doors furnished must be tested and approved products listed on the applicable Qualified Products List prior to purchase. The door must resist 20 man-hours of surreptitious entry, 30 man-minutes of covert entry, and 10 man-minutes of forced entry. Delivery is to 133 Elm Street, Brewer, Maine 04412, where a forklift is available for unloading. The existing door (model Y28665J, F-3 rated, 4-hour rating) is being replaced.
Bidders must submit separate unit prices for the vault door and shipping costs, with all transportation charges prepaid and at the contractor's expense. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder based on best value considerations including quality, conformity with specifications, delivery date, and ultimate cost. Bidders should specify terms and cash discounts; discounts under 20 days will not be considered in award determination. The state is exempt from Federal and Maine state sales and use taxes. Contractors must comply with the Maine Chemical Substance Identification Law by providing current material safety data sheets for hazardous chemicals.
Point of contact is Paul Lapointe at 207-626-4338 or 207-592-0596; buyer David Pelletier at 207-626-7848 or fax 207-626-7553.
