About this opportunity

The Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Radiation Control (BRC) is seeking to purchase two neutron radiation detectors that are compatible with mobile radiation detection systems manufactured by Radiation Solutions Inc. (RSI). The BRC, along with the Florida Highway Patrol, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Homeland Security, currently own a combined 22+ RSI mobile systems, and the neutron detectors are necessary to ensure interoperability and coordination during radiological/nuclear search missions across these agencies. The BRC is procuring the detectors as a single-source acquisition from RSI, as they are the sole manufacturer of the RSN-4-Short (He-3) Neutron Detectors that are compatible with the existing RSI mobile systems. The estimated dollar amount for the purchase is $126,400.00, and the procurement opportunity is posted with a due date of April 13, 2022.

The contract opportunity is limited to RSI as the sole source provider of the required neutron detectors, as they are the only manufacturer that can ensure compatibility and interoperability with the existing RSI mobile systems owned by the procuring agencies. There are no set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond, as this is a single-source procurement. The current incumbent vendor is RSI, as they are the sole provider of the necessary neutron detectors, and the procurement budget is estimated at $126,400.00.
