About this opportunity
The Town of Simsbury, Connecticut is requesting sealed proposals from qualified fire alarm design professionals to assess and design comprehensive system upgrades across eight municipal buildings, with proposals due August 25, 2026 at 10:00 AM and a mandatory walk-through on August 4, 2026 at 10:00 AM.
The scope encompasses system inventory and documentation, condition and life-cycle assessment, code compliance review against NFPA 72 and Connecticut State Fire Safety Code, performance and suitability analysis, comprehensive upgrade planning with phased cost estimates, and bid-ready plans and specifications for the eight facilities: Town Hall, Highway Facility, Scout Hall, Apple Barn, Recreation Office, Golf Pro Shop & Restaurant, Ice Rink, and Park & Golf Maintenance facility. The Town prefers systems avoiding proprietary hardware to prevent vendor lock-in. Consultants may engage specialty subconsultants for portions of the work provided subcontracting does not exceed fifty percent of contract price without prior written approval.
Selection will be based on relevant experience, past performance, current workload, qualifications of key personnel, references, and proposal completeness. The Town does not specify a contract value or term, as pricing will be negotiated following proposal submission. Work commences within fifteen business days of Notice to Proceed. Proposals must be submitted in triplicate to Amy Meriwether, Director of Finance, 933 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, Connecticut 06070.
Insurance requirements are general liability of $1 million per occurrence, automobile liability of $1 million per occurrence, and excess liability of $5 million, with the Town named as additional insured. The contract is subject to cancellation with thirty days' written notice. Questions are due August 11, 2026, with answers provided by August 18, 2026. Contact Chris Petron at 860-658-3222 or CPetron@simsbury-ct.gov.
