About this opportunity

The State of Maine Division of Purchases is requesting quotations for mobility shelving units to support the Division of Vital Records and Statistics (DRVS) office move, with quotes due October 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. local time under RFQ solicitation terms.

The scope requires two distinct mobile shelving systems: a QuadraMobile system with 3-inch carriage and floor decking for smaller applications, and a Mobilex system with 5-inch heavy-duty carriage for larger applications. Both must feature Smartshelf hook-support shelving with four-bend, 18-gauge adjustable shelves in 1-inch increments, box shelves with center dividers, and ADA-compliant ramp systems. The large storage unit requires two-thirds full-depth shelving with center stops and one-third back-to-back shelving; the smaller unit requires 100 percent full-depth shelving. All systems must be based on Montel Inc. mechanical movable shelving products or equivalent, constructed from cold-rolled carbon steel with powder coat finishes meeting archival quality standards. Carriages must support minimum 750 pounds per linear foot; track rails, 1,000 pounds per linear foot; solid steel wheels with 5-inch minimum diameter and 3,200-pound minimum load capacity. Installation includes grouting tracks using hydraulic cement, modular floor construction with aluminum sub-rails, steel reinforcement, and commercial-grade carpet, plus built-in leveling and anti-tip safety mechanisms.

Bidders must submit manufacturer ISO 9001:2008 certification at bid time and references from three comparable installations. A mandatory preinstallation conference at the project site is required. Warranties include ten years on carriage drive motors (parts and labor for year one) and five years on all other equipment (parts and labor for year one), plus five-year material and one-year workmanship coverage on the entire shelving installation.

Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder offering best value. The State reserves the right to reject any or all quotes, waive formalities, accept individual items or groups, and increase or decrease quantities by up to 10%. Tie bids favor in-state bidders or those offering Maine-manufactured commodities. All questions must be submitted through the designated online portal.
