About this opportunity

Oakland University is seeking proposals for a comprehensive carpet replacement project at Meadow Brook Hall located in Rochester, Michigan. The procurement involves detailed carpeting services for six distinct locations within the historic mansion, including wall-to-wall installation, carpet removal, bound edges, runners, and tacked down sections. The project requires vendors to collaborate with Meadow Brook Hall staff to select appropriate carpeting that matches the historical aesthetic, with specific color and pattern requirements for areas such as Frances and Dan's Bedroom hallways, Grand Staircase, Upper Great Hall, Sitting Alcove, Upper Gallery Hall, and staff halls. A mandatory pre-bid walk-through is scheduled for February 15, 2024, at 10:00 AM, with sealed proposals due by March 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM Eastern Time. Evaluation criteria will include cost, vendor experience, and carpet selection quality, with the university reserving the right to reject any proposals. The primary project completion deadline is May 1, 2024, with a secondary option of June 30, 2024 if the initial timeline cannot be met. Vendors must provide comprehensive insurance documentation, including Workers' Compensation, Commercial General Liability, Professional Liability, Cyber Risk Liability, Auto Liability, and Excess Umbrella coverage.

The request for proposal does not specify explicit set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. Vendors will be required to submit detailed proposals demonstrating qualifications and understanding of the project's historical preservation requirements. While specific budget ranges are not explicitly stated in the documents, the project involves multiple locations and complex installation requirements, suggesting a potentially significant contract value. The university indicates a preference for payment via university credit card and reserves the right to negotiate with finalists or make multiple awards. The contract will be subject to Oakland University's General Terms and Conditions, and proposers should be prepared to cover all costs associated with proposal preparation. No incumbent vendors are mentioned in the documentation, and the project appears to be a standalone carpet replacement initiative focused on preserving the historical integrity of Meadow Brook Hall. Potential bidders should pay close attention to the detailed specifications in the attached documents, particularly the carpet specifications that emphasize matching original patterns and avoiding modern design elements.
