About this opportunity

The City of Cadillac is seeking bids for the Marathon Drive Water Main Improvements Project, a municipal infrastructure upgrade located in Michigan. The procurement involves installing approximately 1,240 linear feet of 6-inch ductile iron water main, including two fire hydrant assemblies, 19 water service connections, and 3,400 square yards of aggregate surface improvements. Key project objectives include replacing existing water infrastructure and extending municipal water service from Seneca Place to Huston Street. Bidders must submit sealed proposals by March 11, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. to the Director of Finance at the Municipal Complex, with each proposal requiring a 5% bid guarantee in the form of a cashier's check, certified check, money order, or bid bond. Evaluation criteria will focus on the lowest responsible bidder with the best project timeline, with contract documents available from Prein & Newhof engineering firm for a non-refundable $30 fee. The anticipated project award date is March 25, 2025, with substantial completion required prior to June 30, 2025, and an expected 4-week continuous work schedule.

There are no specific set-aside designations or restrictions on vendor participation mentioned in the procurement documents. The successful bidder will be required to furnish performance and labor/material bonds, each covering 100% of the contract price. All water main materials must be American-made, and the project involves utility coordination with multiple local providers including Consumers Energy, DTE, AT&T, and Charter Communications. Existing private wells will be abandoned after municipal water connection, and the project includes provisions for extending water service from street right-of-way to residents' houses. While a specific budget range is not explicitly stated, the project includes provisions for up to $25,000 in mobilization costs and involves comprehensive infrastructure improvements. The procurement allows for alternate bids that could include additional house connections and well abandonment services, providing flexibility for potential expanded scope.
