About this opportunity
The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife is requesting bids on manufactured fiberglass Combi-Tank systems for the Dry Mills State Fish Hatchery in Gray, Maine, with proposals due July 7, 2009.
The scope requires the manufacture and delivery of thirty complete Combi-Tank systems for Brook Trout hatching and rearing operations. Each system comprises three integrated components: a main tank with five-foot internal diameter and three-foot depth, a first feed tank measuring 10 to 12 inches deep, and an egg tray with 1/16-inch screen openings. Minimum fiberglass thickness is 3/16 inch for main and first feed tanks. Tank bottoms require three-inch Schedule 40 PVC center drain fittings as an integral part of the main tank. Fish exclusion screens must be semi-rigid PVC with 1/16-by-1/2 or 3/4-inch opening slots. All components must include a complete plumbing kit with standpipes and fittings; the State provides the inner standpipe separately. Workmanship must meet high industrial standards and withstand fabrication, shipping, installation, and continuous operation stresses. All materials in contact with fish-rearing water are prohibited from containing cadmium, brass, bronze, copper, zinc, or their alloys. Fasteners must be stainless steel or aluminum. All equipment and accessories carry a minimum one-year warranty on materials and workmanship from final acceptance. The State handles crate, protection, and shipping of all fiberglass items to the project location; damaged units rejected by the State are returned to the manufacturer at vendor expense.
Prospective manufacturers must provide references demonstrating prior experience manufacturing similar tanks within or near Maine. The procurement is evaluated on a lowest-responsible-bidder basis considering best value to the State. Unit pricing is required, delivered to destination with all discounts included and all transportation charges prepaid by the contractor. Bids must exclude Maine State Sales and Use Taxes and Federal Taxes on non-resale items.
