About this file
This specification document details construction requirements for manufactured fiberglass Combi-Tank systems procured by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife for the Dry Mills State Fish Hatchery in Gray, Maine. The project requires the manufacture and delivery of thirty (30) complete fiberglass Combi-Tank systems designed for Brook Trout hatching and rearing operations. Each system comprises three integrated components: a main tank with a five-foot internal diameter and three-foot depth, a first feed tank measuring 10 to 12 inches deep that fits within the main tank, and an egg tray with specified screen openings. All components must be constructed to withstand stresses encountered during fabrication, shipping, installation, and continuous operation, with workmanship meeting high industrial standards. The specification requires minimum fiberglass thickness of 3/16 inch for both main and first feed tanks, precise drain fittings using three-inch Schedule 40 PVC materials, and fish exclusion screens with 1/16-inch openings.
The scope additionally requires a complete plumbing kit containing all standpipes, fittings, and screens necessary for proper tank operation, excluding the inner standpipe to be provided separately by the State of Maine. All fish culture tank components must conform to quality standards outlined in Attachment B of the specification document. Prospective manufacturers must provide references demonstrating prior experience manufacturing similar tanks within or near the State of Maine. The specification document references attached technical drawings for the center stand pipe and tank bottom fittings, indicating detailed engineering requirements that bidders must review and incorporate into their manufacturing processes.
