About this opportunity

The Macon Water Authority is seeking Statements of Qualifications from firms to provide installation services for a Large Meter and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Device Installation Project in Macon, Georgia. The procurement involves labor services to install approximately 2,200 water meters within the authority's service area, specifically in Bibb County. Key objectives include replacing existing water meters with new AMI-enabled large meters, with the AMI system hardware being separately purchased from Neptune Technology Group. Interested firms must submit their qualifications by June 24, 2025, with the potential to be shortlisted and invited for an interview. Evaluation will likely focus on the firm's technical capabilities, experience with large-scale water meter installations, and demonstrated expertise in AMI deployment. Prospective bidders can obtain Request for Qualifications (RFQ) documents by contacting Gene Inman, Project Manager, at ginman@maconwater.org or by accessing the documents on the Macon Water Authority website at www.maconwater.org/mwa-project-bid-documents. The Macon Water Authority reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technicalities and informalities.

While no specific set-aside designations or restrictions on respondent types are explicitly mentioned in the documentation, the preliminary engineer's budgetary estimate for the project is $3,500,000.00, excluding optional bid items. The procurement appears to be open to qualified professional engineering and installation firms with specific expertise in water meter infrastructure and AMI technology. No incumbent vendors are identified in the current documentation, and the project involves integrating new AMI devices with existing water infrastructure in the Macon Water Authority's service area. The authority will be purchasing the AMI system hardware separately through Neptune Technology Group, which suggests a potential existing technological framework that new installers will need to successfully integrate with. Firms responding to this RFQ should be prepared to demonstrate technical competence, previous successful large-scale meter installation projects, and the capability to complete the comprehensive installation of 2,200 water meters within the specified project parameters.
