About this opportunity
Van Dyke Public Schools in Warren, Michigan is requesting proposals for mowing and leaf removal services across nine district locations under an RFP due October 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., with a pre-bid conference and district tour on September 30, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
The scope covers weekly mowing and trimming from April through November at elementary schools, a middle school, a high school, administrative buildings, and a community center, with leaf removal twice annually (April and October–November). Mowing frequency ranges between 18 and 28 cuts per season with no more than ten calendar days between cuts at each site unless specifically requested. Grass must be cut to a minimum of three inches and maximum height of five inches between cuts. All equipment must be commercial-grade and mechanically sound.
The contract period encompasses three lawn maintenance seasons (April through November) with possibility of renewal for additional years at price increases not exceeding three percent annually, subject to written agreement by the district. Pricing is evaluated on a per-cut basis for each location, with bidders submitting pricing separately for individual locations and for the entire contract award.
Bidders must submit sealed proposals on provided forms with authorized signature from the highest-ranking local company officer, accompanied by two additional copies, a bid bond or certified check equal to one mowing cycle cost as good faith deposit, three business references, familial relationship disclosure statements, Iran sanctions compliance affidavits, and legislative compliance certifications. Contractors must maintain comprehensive liability insurance with limits of $1,000,000 for general liability, property damage, and automobile coverage and provide workers' compensation as required by Michigan law. All OSHA requirements and local ordinances apply. Contractors are prohibited from smoking or vaping on district property. Invoicing is required within 30 days of work completion with payment issued 30 days thereafter. The anticipated board action date is October 19, 2026. The district reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, award to other than the lowest bidder, and waive irregularities.
