The contract will be awarded on a lump sum basis to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
The scope includes substantial mechanical, electrical, and architectural work: fume hood installations with acceptance testing per ANSI/ASHRAE 110-1995; HVAC controls, dampers, and testing and balancing per AABC or NEBB standards; plumbing fixtures with specific manufacturer options and lead-content compliance under the amended Safe Drinking Water Act; luxury vinyl tile and ceramic/porcelain tile finishes with epoxy mortar and grout; wood laboratory casework from approved manufacturers including Institutional Casework Inc.; visual display units with 50-year porcelain-enamel warranty; and ductwork maintained to Advanced Level per SMACNA guidelines. The contractor must coordinate with multiple trades and approved testing and balancing agencies such as AireBal, Air Data, or Commissioning Services.
Preconstruction activities must commence immediately upon contract execution, with all physical work completed within 180 days of receiving a Proceed Order. Six deductive alternates are included: Card Access Control omission, multiuse classroom finishes omission, HVAC testing and balancing omission, multipurpose classroom finishes omission, glass handrails omission, and fire alarm panel replacement omission.
Each bid requires a Bid Bond of not less than five percent of the total bid amount; bids remain irrevocable for 60 days following opening.
