Addendum No. 1 for Project J-453
This is Addendum No. 1 to the construction documents for Project J-453, Partial Renovation Education Center at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia, issued by Dunwody/Beeland Architects, Inc. on May 29, 2026. The addendum modifies the bid requirements, specifications, and drawings originally issued on March 20, 2026, for the partial renovation of an education building. Key modifications include revisions to the Bid-4 form, updates to multiple specification sections covering openings, HVAC systems, finishes, and plumbing fixtures, and replacement of eight architectural drawing sheets and thirteen plumbing and mechanical drawing sheets dated May 29, 2026. The project involves substantial mechanical, electrical, and architectural work including fume hood installations, HVAC controls and testing, resilient flooring, tile work, wood casework, visual display units, plumbing fixtures, and ductwork. The bid date was set for June 11, 2026, with the project requiring 60 days following bid opening for bid acceptance. Five alternates are included in the bid form: omit finishes in multipurpose classroom Room 2130; omit HVAC testing and balancing; omit millwork, fixtures, and finishes in Room 2130; omit glass handrails; and omit fire alarm panel replacement.
The revised specifications establish detailed requirements for products and installation procedures across multiple disciplines. Plumbing fixtures include water closets, lavatories, sinks, ice maker supply boxes, and emergency shower/eyewash stations with specific manufacturer options and compliance standards. HVAC specifications detail requirements for fume hood acceptance testing per ANSI/ASHRAE 110-1995, control dampers and operators, sequence of operation, power ventilators, duct construction and insulation, and testing, adjusting, and balancing per AABC or NEBB standards. Interior finishes specify luxury vinyl tile in multiple colors, ceramic and porcelain tile with epoxy mortar and grout, wood laboratory casework with approved manufacturers including Institutional Casework Inc., and visual display units with 50-year porcelain-enamel warranty. Roofing bond is not required. All plumbing work must comply with the amended Safe Drinking Water Act regarding lead content, and lead flashing is prohibited. The contractor must coordinate with multiple trades, maintain duct cleanliness to Advanced Level per SMACNA guidelines, and work with approved testing and balancing agencies such as AireBal, Air Data, Commissioning Services, or other listed firms to verify system performance before final project acceptance.
