About this opportunity
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is requesting bids for invasive iguana removal from state-managed lands and Florida State Parks in Monroe County's Florida Keys under ITB FWC 26.27-01, with sealed bids due August 7, 2026 at 3:30 PM ET.
Bidders must register in MyFloridaMarketPlace (MFMP) and SunBiz prior to bid opening. The scope covers removal of Green and Spiny-Tailed Iguanas from 13 selected sites—five Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Wildlife and Environmental Area sites and eight Florida State Parks—with three alternative WEA sites available for substitution. The contractor must conduct removal operations a minimum of twice monthly per site, deploying two or more staff per site visit. Removal methods include hand capture, catch poles, live traps, and air guns where approved; captured animals must be humanely killed using a captive bolt gun followed by pithing. Required services also include egg removal, morphometric data collection on all specimens, GPS track logging, monthly Excel reports with photographic documentation, and carcass disposal. Work is limited to Monday through Friday excluding state holidays, with minimum 2-hour visits to WEA sites and 6-hour visits to State Parks.
Qualifications include minimum three years' experience trapping and humanely killing nuisance or nonnative wildlife; no documented wildlife or animal cruelty violations; three years' GPS and data management experience; and three years' professional technical reporting experience. Bidders must provide three professional references for similar wildlife removal contracts completed within the past three years and submit proof of general liability and worker's compensation insurance.
The contract term is one year from Purchase Order issuance, with completion by August 31, 2027. The FWC holds an option to renew for up to one additional year under identical terms. Pricing is submitted on a per-removal-day basis for one survey team covering both initial and renewal years. All quoted prices must include equipment, supplies, permits, transportation, and carcass disposal; no additional fees for taxes, fuel surcharges, or delivery are permitted. Award goes to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Liquidated damages are assessed at $0.00 per day of delay; payment is denied for missed monthly deliverables and reduced for missed site visits. Subcontracting is permitted with submission of a Subcontractor Minority Status Report with each invoice.
